Neighborhood Development Services, Inc. (NDS) was awarded $295,000 in flexible grant funds from NeighborWorks America (of which they are a charter member). This will provide a much-needed improvement in support of their affordable housing and community development activities.
The grant will be divided to help support Harvest Hills, an elderly complex slated to begin construction in August, Rootstown Villas an elderly USDA 515 rehabilitation project and lastly it will be used for capacity building in areas such as foreclosure prevention.
“We are pleased to receive this grant money from NeighborWorks America,” said Dave Vaughan, executive director of NDS. “Being a chartered member allows us the opportunity to tap into monies to continue to provide the quality and affordable housing, programs and services to much of Northeast Ohio.”
NDS has been a chartered member of NeighborWorks America since 1998 and began training and personal development to establish a Homeownership Center. In 2003 NDS was certified as a homeownership center and certified to perform homeownership education, homeownership counseling, financial fitness and foreclosure prevention services.
