State Farm donates $25,000 to NDS for Homeownership Center Foreclosure Prevention Initiative

Neighborhood Development Services, Inc. (NDS) has received a $25,000 donation from State Farm Insurance to support its NeighborWorks® America Homeownership Center via the foreclosure prevention initiative. The initiative assists homeowners that may need assistance with mortgage related issues.  The initiative is based on a proven formula; a triage service that links customers to a HUD-certified counselors 24 hours a day 7 days a week and also links them to HUD approved, foreclosure prevention certified localized agencies (NDS) to better assist with overall support.  This may include counseling, mortgage work-out plans and/or mortgage rescue loans. The contribution will assist NDS’ client base and support this critical initiative.

Over the past seven years, Neighborhood Development Services has received nearly $130,000 in contributions from State Farm’s Good Neighbor Citizenship Program.  The Good Neighbor Citizenship Program is one of the insurance company’s community involvement initiatives supporting programs that enable home ownership, empower schools, encourage highway safety, and build strong communities.

“The continued success of our Home Ownership Center depends on partnerships with organizations such as State Farm,” said David Vaughan, executive director of NDS. Vaughan also credits State Farm agent Dave Petrone for his role.  “Dave is a valuable resource in our community and his leadership efforts as a member of the NDS board of directors has had a substantial impact on the agency and especially housing related issues.,” Vaughan added.

This contribution is expected to provide support to increase foreclosure prevention counseling efforts.

“NDS’ Homeownership Center is a valuable tool for the community because it provides educational opportunities for homeownership as well as assistance to those in difficult situations regarding mortgage issues,” Petrone said.  He added, the NDS homeownership center has a proven track record of creating default resistant homebuyers  through education and post purchase support.
