NDS Board of Directors

Joann Townend, Chairperson:

Elected as the NDS Board of Directors Chairperson in 2001, JoAnn Townend has served with the NDS Board since the early 1990’s; her previous position was treasurer, and chair of finance and audit.  JoAnn is a lifetime resident of Portage County and has dedicated 30 years of service to Portage County.  She is currently the Director of Internal Services for Portage County.

William Elder, Vice Chair:

Bill Elder was an active NDS Trustee for 9 years. Bill was elected in December 2003 as an NDS Board member and elected Treasurer in 2006. Bill was elected Vice Chair in 2009. Bill is employed at Huntington Bank and resides in Kent.

Heidi Kovach, Secretary:

Heidi Kovach joined NDS Board of Directors in May 2008.  She is a resident of Ravenna and works part time as a seamstress.  She enjoys working with children and dedicates her a lot of time volunteering for various school related activities.  She attended Ravenna High School and Kent State University. She was recently elected as NDS Board Secretary.

Rod Mishler, Treasurer:

Rod Mishler joined NDS Board of Directors in December 2007.  He is a certified public accountant. He was recently elected as NDS Board Treasurer.

Arlene Habeeb, Member:

Arlene Habeeb has been employed with the Community Action Council of Portage County for over 10 years, and is currently Director of Community & Outreach Services.  An active member in her community and in the county, she serves in roles such as Coleman Professional Services Board, various committees for Kent City Schools and the City of Kent, and NAACP are just a few of her affiliations. She holds a degree from Kent State University. 

Jeanette Palomo, Member:

Jeanette Palomo joined NDS Board of Directors in May 2008.  She is a resident of Kent and a retired Educator.  She holds a Bachelors degree from  St. Mary’s University and a Masters degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.

Renee Booher, Member:

Richard Miller, DDS Member:

Dr. Richard Miller recently joined the NDS Board. He has been a dentist in Ravenna for many years and received his education at The Ohio State University.  He brings knowledge of business, finance, community support and marketing.
